Mutts with Manners Classes
Classes are based on the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards. The awards are non-competitive; you simply have to reach the required standard to gain your Certificate and Rosette. Dogs must be vaccinated, wormed and free of any infectious condition. Once dogs have completed their basic training they can join our off-lead social groups.

Puppies up to 1 year of age will work towards the Puppy Assessment. This gives you a basic understanding of your dog's needs and how to meet them. You will learn how to handle your dog safely and how to teach the basic control exercises (sit, down, heelwork, recall, etc). Courses last 6-8 weeks and puppies can continue to attend until they reach 1 year. ![]()
Adult dogs (over 1 year) and younger dogs that have already achieved the Puppy Award will work towards the Kennel Club Bronze Award. Exercises are similar to those in the Puppy Award, but you will achieve a higher level of control because your dog is older and has a greater attention span. Courses are in 6-8 week blocks, and most dogs will be ready for assessment after two blocks. There will be 3 or 4 assessment sessions per year. Following on from the Bronze Award are the Silver and Gold awards, each working to a higher standard. In addition to working towards the awards, classes can play games and teach tricks, heelwork to music or demonstration routines.
Congratulations to all our Good Citizens - they really are Mutts with Manners!
